Introduction to Rigid Heddle Weaving
A beginner rigid heddle weaving class.
Students will learn to warp, wind and weave as well as how to finish hand-woven projects when it comes off the loom. Tammy Bast is a weaving designer, teacher, and the voice behind The Rogue Weaver. She is known for her calm, supportive teaching style and her focus on helping weavers find what works for them. Tammy specializes in rigid heddle weaving and loves making the craft feel approachable, creative, and deeply satisfying for beginners and experienced weavers alike. Materials: Students will need to bring: 2 contrasting skeins of dk/worsted yarn. I used Malabrigo Rios in colours Sunset and Solis in the sample Ultra Alpaca or Ultra Wool by Berroco, will work. If you prefer cotton to wool, Juniper Moon Pima Cotton will work. Any yarn that is 200m/100g and does not break easily should work. I prefer natural fibres, but acrylic should work too. Equipment: A minimum 12" loom Stand (optional but recommended) A 7.5 or 8 dent reed Warping peg and clamps 2 shuttles Threading hook Tape measure Tt-pins or straight pins Sarping sticks or paper Scissors Darning needle
